Former Belgian Prime Minister, who was the deputy chair of the Convention on the Future of Europe. Dehaene was responsible for links between the Convention and its work and civil society organisations.
Notes
- In 1994 the then British Prime Minister John Major vetoed his nomination as President of the EU Commission.
- Such a veto cannot be repeated under the Treaty of Nice, which introduced qualified majority voting in the appointment of the President and the members.
