European Movement

Founded in 1948 to support European integration towards a federal Europe.
The movement has national branches in 32 countries.
It is subsidised by the EU budget at both international and national levels.

Notes

Valéry Giscard d`Estaing was its international President for eight years.
Today’s President is the former President of the EU Parliament, José Maria Gil-Robles.

Britain and the European Movement

Claim to be Britain's largest pro-European movement. Founded by Sir Winston Churchill in 1948 and now chaired by Ian Taylor, MP. Aim for Britain to play a leading role in Europe and to join the single currency.
