British territory in the south of Spain since 1713.
This EU territory has no representation within the EU Parliament but is expected to be included as a UK region at the next EU Parliamentary elections.
The British Government tried to negotiate giving Gibraltar to the Spanish, who claim Gibraltar as part of Spanish territory.
The citizens of Gibraltar see themselves as British nationals. They refused overwhelmingly in a referendum to accept a change to their constitutional status.

Notes

Spain has similar possessions in North Africa and has no plans to give Ceuta or Melilla to Morocco.
