Beside the judges, the EU Court in Luxembourg has eight advocate generals who assist in preparing judgements. They prepare court cases with written opinions, which are not binding upon the Court, but usually influence its decisions.

The future

After the enlargement of the EU, the new number of advocate generals will be decided by the Council after receiving advice from the Court.
