Delors, Jacques (1925 - )

A strong EU Commission President from 1985 to 1994. French Finance Minister from 1981 to 1985.

He chaired a working group on monetary union and is seen as one of the fathers of the single currency because of his responsibility for the so-called Delors-report in 1989. Headed the Economic and Monetary Committee in the EU Parliament from 1979-81. Delors now heads the "Notre Europe" think-tank in Paris, which is financed by EU money to promote further integration.
