The EU supports AIDS research under the programme for Community action in the field of public health (2003-2008).
For developing countries, there is a European Programme for Action (Accelerated action on HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis in the context of poverty reduction).
In 2003, the EU is contributing 42 million Euro from its budget to the Global Health Fund plus 42 million Euro from the EDF.
