Elysée Treaty
The co-operation agreement between France and Germany dating from 1963. Both countries agreed to unify the main elements of their policies, including foreign policy, through frequent meetings.The treaty has been the formal legal basis for many joint initiatives, which have subsequently been dicussed by the EU as a whole.
