The Group of the European People's Party, Christian Democrats and European Democrats in the EU Parliament.

The group is the largest in the European Parliament and a major force in the European Union. EPP/ED consist of members from both traditional Christian-democratic parties and British and Danish conservative parties who were previously organised in their own, distinct group.

It is descended from the tradition established in the 1950's by Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer and Alcide de Gasperi, of aiming for a federal Europe.
The group is chaired by Hans-Gert Pöttering a member of the group's biggest component, the German CDU.
