Air transport

The EU wants to regulate a part of air transport. It plans to establish an independent European Aviation Safety Agency and common rules for civil aviation security. Draft rules have been prepared for incident monitoring and compensation, liability in the event of accidents, slot allocation in airports, insurance in the aviation sector, noise emissions and unfair pricing practices.

In 2002 the EU Court outlawed one-to-one (bilateral) agreements between Member States and the USA and called on the EU to establish common agreements with third countries.

The future

The EU Commission wants to establish a “Single European sky”.
