Has a population of 1,4 million and an area of 45,226 km². Estonia became an EU member on 1^st May 2004.

Formerly a component republic of the USSR. Became an independent state in 1991. Signed a Europe agreement in 1995 and entered into Accession Partnership in 1998. Through a referendum on 14 September 2003, 67% of Estonians voted in favour of Estonia´s accession to the EU.

It has 6 out of 732 MEPs and 4 out of 321 votes in the Council.
