Hungary has a population of 10.2 million and an area of 93,030 km2.
It became an EU Member State on 1st May 2004.
On 12 April 2003, 83.69% of Hungarians voted “Yes” to Hungary’s EU entry in the binding accession referendum. However, the turnout was low. Less than half of the population (45.62%) voted.
Hungary has 24 seats out of 732 in EU Parliament and 12 votes out of 321 in the Council.
