Has a population of 3.48 million and an area of 65,000 km2.
Became an EU member state on 1st May 2004.
Membership was finally decided in a national referendum in which around 90% of the voters supported EU membership. Has had a Europe agreement since 1995 and entered into Accession Partnership in 1998.
Has 13 out of 732 seats in the EU Parliament and 7 out of 321 votes in the Council.Links
