With an area of over 312,000 km² and a population of 38.6 million, Poland was by far the largest country to join the EU on 1^st May 2004.

Has had a Europe Agreement since 1994, when it also applied for membership.

Poland has 27 votes out of 321 in the Council and 54 members in the EU Parliament, like Spain.
