Small countries

Small countries like Denmark, Finland, and Ireland each have three votes in the European Council. Under the Treaty of Nice the voting system will change. The small countries will each have seven votes, while the bigger states' votes will increase from 10 to 29, as a compensation for their loss of a second
commissioner.
