Sweden has a population of 8.9 million and an area of 450,000 km².
It joined the EU in 1995. At present, it has four out of 87 votes in the council and 22 out of 626 seats in EU Parliament.

The future

After the next enlargement of the EU in 2004, it will have 10 votes out of 321 in the Council and 19 seats out of 732 in the EU Parliament.
